Pachypodium lamerei, commonly known as the Madagascar Palm, is a striking succulent that resembles a palm tree but is actually a member of the dogbane family. Its thick, silver-gray trunk is covered in sharp spines and topped with a crown of long, glossy green leaves, creating a bold architectural look. Easy to care for and exceptionally drought-tolerant, it’s a favorite among succulent and collector plant enthusiasts.
Care Tips
☀️ Light: Bright light to full sun; thrives with several hours of direct sunlight each day.
💧 Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Water sparingly during winter dormancy when growth slows.
🌡️ Humidity: Prefers dry air and average household conditions.
🌱 Growth: Slow to moderate grower with an upright, tree-like form that develops a thicker trunk with age. May naturally shed leaves during winter dormancy before producing fresh growth in spring.
🐾 Pet Safety: ❌ Toxic to cats & dogs if ingested. The sharp spines can also cause injury.
A bold and sculptural succulent that brings exotic, desert-inspired beauty and architectural interest to any sunny space.
